Made in Oakland

OUR CORE BEERS

NEW OAKLAND GLOW

Pilsner 4.8% ABV

Our core line-up Pilsner is a classic and comforting German-style beer. Utilizing premium ingredients to create a crisp, biscuity light beer with a subtle hopped finish.

EAST BAY NIGHTS

Black Lager 5.2% ABV

2022 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) (R) Silver Medal winning beer in the German Dark Lager category. This is our tribute to a classic German Schwarzbier. Don’t let the color of this beer fool you, it’s light on the palate and full of flavor. Notes of coffee and roast with enough German noble hops to round out the malt profile.

DRINK BEER, SLAY DRAGON

West Coast IPA 6.5% ABV

Whether you’re looking for some liquid courage or toasting a personal success, this West Coast IPA is here for you. It’s citrus-y, fruit-y, and pine-y with subtle sweetness and perfect bitterness. With Andrew’s spirit in mind, whatever your own “Dragon” is, just go out there and slay!

Centennial, Mosaic, and Columbus hops.

BAY SHORE FOG

Hazy IPA 6.5% ABV

Our core Hazy IPA is generously hopped with Comet, Citra, Chinook, and Talus giving it rich aromas of lychee and other tropical fruits in addition to a balanced dose of grapefruit and citrus peel.

New Releases

Zapatos After Dark

Amber Lager 5.4% ABV

Zapatos After Dark pays tribute to the late-night rhythms that pulse through Oakland — from jazz and funk to hip-hop and soul. Born from the same energy that inspired our Zapatos de Baile Mexican-style Lager, this Amber Lager celebrates those who keep the party alive after hours — with a glass raised, a beat in their heart, and shoes made for dancing long into the night.

FRUIT VALE

Apple Lager 5.2% ABV

Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood got its name from “Fruit Vale,” the fruit tree nursery established there by Henderson Luelling in the 1800s. Luelling started his first nursery in Iowa, but traveled West after it was discovered that he was helping slaves escape on the Underground Railroad. With his covered wagon outfitted to transport his 700 fruit and nut trees, he arrived in Oakland and bought 400 acres on Sausal Creek where he opened Fruit Vale.

For this batch, our friends at Blindwood Cider pressed two of the oldest apple varieties grown in the U.S.—Roxbury Russet and Belle de Boskoop—and shared their pomace (the leftover skins and pulp) with us to create something truly unique. Brewed using Prairie Select Malt and Rakau hops from New Zealand, known for their “whole orchard” aroma, this is a crisp, lagered beer with subtle hints of red apple, cider, and light tannins from the fruit. Crafted in the spirit of curiosity and collaboration- no brew gods, no brew masters, just good friends and good beer.

MIGRATION

West Coast IPA 6.5% ABV

Every spring and fall, migratory birds travel the Pacific Flyway, a major North-South migratory route that stretches between Alaska and Patagonia. Lake Merritt, established in 1870 as the nation’s first government-owned wildlife refuge, serves as an important rest stop for these waterfowl during their migrations. The lake is home to over 100 different types of birds throughout the year, making Oakland a haven for birds and bird watchers alike.

Rakau, El Dorado, Idaho 7 hops.

IRON AND STEEL

Mexican Hot Chocolate Imperial Stout 9.3% ABV

Inspired by our German Chocolate Imperial Stout, this bold sipper is aged on TCHO Ecuadorian cocoa nibs with cinnamon and ancho chiles for a rich, warming twist. Expect a little heat, a touch of spice, and hints of smokiness, all rounded out by a decadent chocolate finish. Big, dark, and boozy—best enjoyed fireside with a plate of mole. Available exclusively in our taproom.

ABOUT OAKLAND UNITED BEERWORKS

Founded in 2009 as Linden Street Brewery, we became the first community-based production brewery in Oakland since Golden West Brewery closed in the 1950s.

Oakland is and always has been a beer town; a place where hard-working people would gather together to enjoy locally brewed, fresh beer.

In 2017, following the sale of our building on Linden Street to a new developer, we moved our operations to the waterfront Jack London District and rebranded as Oakland United Beerworks.
