Meet Daisy: A Very Lucky Dog
Our newest Lucky Dog is especially close to the OUB family. Daisy belongs to Chelsea, one of our longest-tenured teammates and an integral part of Oakland United Beerworks for many, many years. Chelsea and Daisy have shared a pretty special life together, and we’re honored to shine a spotlight on a doggo who means so much to someone who means so much to all of us.
Here’s Daisy’s story, in Chelsea’s own words.
Daisy came into my life unexpectedly in 2020, when a family friend entrusted her to me. She was my first dog and showed up at exactly the right moment. She has been my shadow ever since.
Now 12 years old, Daisy is a blue nose pit bull who has settled very comfortably into her senior years. In her younger days, she was always ready for an adventure- running, playing, exploring, and swimming in just about any body of water we could find. These days, she’s traded most of that excitement for the simpler pleasures in life. Her ideal afternoon is spent napping in her favorite sunny spot on the back porch or curled up in her designated place on the couch. Preferably with one of there favorite people close by.
Daisy’s personality is truly one of a kind. She loves her people deeply and is fiercely devoted to her inner circle. When it comes to other animals she has just a handful of carefully chosen dog friends and one cat in her life who regularly bullies her, a situation Daisy seems to have reluctantly accepted.
She’s also extremely expressive. Daisy communicates primarily through an impressive assortment of grunts that make her sound more like a little piglet than a dog. When she falls asleep, those grunts give way to snores loud enough to compete with anyone else in the house.
But, Daisy doesn’t really need to make a sound to tell you how she feels. She has mastered the art of communicating entire thoughts with a single look. Beyond the classic pit bull side-eye, she has perfected a puppy-dog pout that makes it nearly impossible to tell her no. Whether she’s mildly annoyed, deeply disappointed in you, hoping for a snack, or simply wondering why you’ve disturbed her nap, you will know.
Over the years, Daisy has had plenty of adventures, countless naps, more than a few sunny afternoons, and, most importantly, a whole lot of love. She may move a little slower these days, and her running and swimming adventures may be mostly behind her, but the things that make Daisy happiest have always been pretty simple: give her a comfortable place to nap, a warm spot in the sun, and her favorite people nearby, and Daisy has everything she needs.
Daisy may be Chelsea’s Lucky Dog, but we feel pretty lucky to call them both part of the OUB family. The love between the two of them is impossible to miss. We couldn’t be happier to celebrate this sweet, snoring, side-eye giving girl and give Daisy her well-deserved moment in the spotlight.
