The most famous groves are found at Aurelia Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park, where second-growth redwoods rise as living reminders of the ancient forests that once blanketed the East Bay. Long before colonization, the Ohlone peoplelived in harmony among these trees. Today, one final sentinel of those original groves—the aptly named Old Survivor—still stands tall, bridging Oakland’s past and present.
