From daring firsts to record-breaking flights\, Oakland has played a pivotal role in the legacy of women in aviation. This beer is a nod to history in every sip! \n\n\nLimitless honors pioneers like Amelia Earhart\, who\, in 1935\, became the first person to fly solo across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland. Earhart also departed from Oakland to begin both attempts at world circumnavigation. \n\n\nIt celebrates Bessie Coleman who\, in 1921\, became the first African American pilot. One of the jobs she took in the mid 1920’s was to drop advertising leaflets from her airplane over Oakland\, California for the Coast Tire and Rubber Company. \n\n\nWe raise a glass to Louise Thaden\, who claimed the women’s endurance record from Oakland Municipal Airport with a flight of 22 hours and 3 minutes. \n\n\nHere’s to Ruth Nichols\, who is the only woman to hold simultaneous world records for speed\, altitude\, and distance for a female pilot. In 1931\, she set the women’s distance record with a flight from Oakland to Louisville\, Kentucky- a total distance of 1\,977 miles. \n\n\nAnd we honor aviator and actress Lee Ya-Ching\, the first woman to get a civil flying license in China\, who trained at the Boeing School of Aeronautics right here in Oakland. \n\n\nThis one’s for the dreamers\, the risk-takers\, and the high-flyers.
